Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in America. The actress is an actor, singer and dancer. She started her Broadway career performing in musicals like Wicked, Legally Blonde, and Hair. Her performance as Essie Carmahiel in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel earned her an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in a Play. Annaleigh has worked in projects with award-winning directors as well as actors and producers for most of her career. Ashford's next venture will be a limited-edition Hulu series titled Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show debuts on November 22 and Ashford stars opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford currently works on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust opposite Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch Bachrach. The film is part of a Hulu Original and will be streaming on Disney DTC. In March of 2023 Ashford will return to Broadway and play alongside Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will direct the production. Ashford portrayed Paula Jones, the main character in Ryan Murphy's new FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the impeachment crisis that swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp as well as other main characters into the first ever impeachment proceeding in America in more than 100 years. Two seasons ago, Ashford was the main character of the hit show on CBS called B Positive. She also appeared in the hit series created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, with legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Not a stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her performance as Essie. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde are amongst her additional Broadway credits. Ashford is an Denver resident who splits his time between Los Angeles.
